Ch. 2 See the Forest for the Trees

We can be as busy as bees with all that is going on with our lives, outside pressures and tensions can lead us to bubbling stress and anxiety. Let us not forget to see the forest for the trees, I was reminded of this task today in class. I had this lump in my throat that was born from all the things I was tackling and the constant fear of not being able to do it, this lump was cleared today when I just took a step back and instead of spending time trying to accomplish the tasks I took the time to examine what the tasks where. Take a step back look at your tasks, and make a schedule, see the forest for the trees as to not get lost in it. I know I did, and I can physically feel some of the weight being lifted.

  1. I'm glad you found a remedy to the lump in your throat :-)

Taking a step back to assess the overall situation from of dwelling in the minutiae is a wise move toward solving the puzzle!

Glad I can confirm for you that the IS101 coursework is not as daunting as you feared ^_^

  3. Taking a step back to see what's on your plate is a very great way to analyze what you can handle. Also having Professor Wu as our instructor can help stir you in the right direction.

  4. I firmly believe that in order to move forward, one must take a step back and measure progress and tasks. It always pays off to take a break and evaluate your situation before moving forward. In reality, what happens to people who walk way too fast? They trip over their own feet. ^_^ It is the same with our brain. When we get extremely busy that we forget to take time for ourselves, we experience burnout and it usually ends up with bad results, physically, emotionally, and mentally.

  7. I know the feeling and it isn't something that easily goes away. Especially if you are an over-thinker like I am. I am so glad you're feeling better.

  8. I particularly enjoyed your article. Your analogy is just right. Let me have a kind of refreshing feeling. I used to struggle with time management, just like you. But as your article says, finding what works for you is essential!

  10. I believe we as humans tend to push ourselves beyond our limits. Sometimes, it can be a little overwhelming. But, to take some time to step back and take it day by day sure is a lifesaver. Beautiful post!

  11. Always take a moment to breath when it gets hard, and we are all here to help each other if needed.

  13. “…see the forest for the trees as to not get lost in”. The key to finishing a task is to always keep the overall picture in mind. Therefore, I'm delighted you were able to concentrate on the major objectives and took the time to investigate them in order to better comprehend them.

  14. I agree with making a schedule to keep up with everything in life. I honestly don't know what I would do without my calendars (work, school and family). Some days it's hard to keep my head on straight. And some days I wish I could just "get lost in the forest" just to breathe.

  15. In my personal development classes they taught me that at the end of the day we should always review the things we did right or wrong and write them down on a piece of paper so we don't forget any detail, and celebrate the things we achieve and create habits to improve on the things we need to. This helped me apply it in personal, work and student life.

  18. This is very encouraging. I am taking 4 classes and was feeling a little overwhelmed by the workload, but taking a step back and changing my focus has helped me gain a clearer picture of what needs to be done and a less stressful way to go about tackling this semester.
