Ch. 4 - 1.1.6 - The binary code

Learning about the binary system and how it is made from electrical charges did overwhelm me.

This section may have been just a brief overview of it, the scope of it is what through me off. Is it necessary for us to learn Binary in order to work in this field? Let me know if you guys think.

  1. No, I would say simply understand the exponential power of 2 and that computer uses this instead of power base of 10 when calculating file sizes is sufficient for IS101 :-)

  2. I understand the math. Some of the items get confusing when they are using the 1 and zero. I now have a better understanding of what makes the digital age.

  3. With Binary System there are calculators you can get that automatically changes the 1s and 0s to the decimal system of exponential powers of 10 which helps with understanding binary a bit more than just using mental math.

  4. The binary number system also overwhelmed me at first, but then I started to get the hang of it.

  5. My brother used to have a binary watch and I used to make fun of him, but I thought it was really cool but I couldn't read it. He graduated from ITT Tech and then was hired from Intel 4 months before he graduated. Its cool

  6. The binary system is overwhelming. Personally, I would not want to learn how to "read" binary codes. It just seems like a lot.

  7. As an IT preparation worker, I think binary learning is very necessary. Because the following duodecimal number system and hexadecimal MAC addresses) are based on understanding binary!

  8. I agree with Tiffany. When I was going over 1.16, I had a blank stare on my face the entire time and still couldn't figure it out with all the examples.

  9. Binary coding sure is confusing with all the terminology and math. Hope all this gets easier.

  10. I will pass on binary coding. I will leave it up to the Matrix to do the work for me. (LOL)

  11. Visualising binary code is like seeing the matrix code floating

  12. Never been a fan of numbers/math, so yes I can agree with most that the binary system is overwhelming.

  13. I agree that the binary system is overwhelming. But I am getting the hang of it.

  14. Oh man, binary coding is so difficult. I don't think I can be able to understand it. I barely passed my math classes in high school, numbers are hard!

  15. It really makes you have to give credit to the people who major in fields that work with these topics daily!

  16. This section was simply difficult to understand. Although I do enjoy math, there is more to this.

  17. I must say Binary Code is one of the fascinating subjects. I never stopped to realize that our generation's effortless finger strokes on a computer keyboard, is only possible due to the consistent intelligent thought put into one key at a time.

  18. Binary code seems interesting, definitely would give it a try in the future.

  19. I use binary in dealing with electronics so it's not a new concept to me, but I have to admit it did confuse when utilizing binary when it comes to filters, switches, and relays, but that is conversation for another time.
